Accrington Stanley v Southend United - The SOL Preview

The first away game of the season see's Southend United travel to Lancashire to play Accrington Stanley.

Southend's twice visited the Crown Ground last season, the first game was called of 90 minutes before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch. With the majority of Southend fans either there or almost there, the question was raised then as to why was the game called off so late when supporters had so far to travel.
It turned out that Blackburn would allow supporters into Ewood Park to watch their game against Newcastle at a discounted price, so it may not have been so much of a wasted journey afterall.

The second time the fans and team travelled up there, the game was on. Southend ended up losing the match 3-1 with Bilel Mohsni being sent off.
Insidently, Bilel looks set to be rested for this game. This is because he is fasting for Ramadam and Sturrock thinks that three games in 7 days will be too much for Bilel.
Chris Barker and Mark Phillips who both got knocks during tuesdays defeat against Leyton Orient in The Carling Cup could be fit to play.

Accringtons first game of the season saw them get a 0-0 draw away to Northampton. Stanley could have taken the lead in that game, but Kurtis Guthrie's header was ruled offside.

The Shrimpers-online's got the team selection 100% correct last week, so here we go as to what we think the team will be:

Glen Morris
Sean Clohessy, Mark Phillips, Chris Barker, Luke Prosser
Ryan Hall, Anthony Grant, Jean-Paul Kalala, Jemal Johnson,
Neil Harris, Liam Dickenson
