<title>Hull City 4-0 Southend United</title>
<description>Southend United suffered the most embarrassing defeat of their season so far on Saturday when they were thrashed 4-0 at the hands of fellow relegation candidates Hull City.
Southend didn't register a shot on target until the 87th minute and that fact sums up a match in which they were completely outplayed and outfought by Hull, who now look like they'll be playing in the Championship next season.

 <title>Birmingham City 1-3 Southend United</title>
<description>"An unbelievable result at St. Andrews has taken Southend United off the bottom of the table for the first time since the 28th October.
The Shrimpers have now taken 11 points from their last 6 games and are truly on the up as they are now sucking the teams above them towards the drop zone, and with home games coming up against teams in the lower half of the table, Southend must now be favourites to survive the drop.

  <title>Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Southend United</title>
<description>"On the night they gave their all - but on this occasion they could not give any more"
For the second round  running Southend United gave a premiership team a scare, but on this occasion the Blues could not come out on the right side of a one nil win - but they did all they could against a Tottenham team that were clearly brimming with confidence after a run of ten home wins and scoring goals freely.

  <title>Say YES!! to Fossetts Farm</title>
<description>These next few months are going to be the most crucial being a Southend Supporter as the fate of the club is now in the hands of Southend Borough Council.
The plans for Fossetts Farm have been submitted and now we await the outcome. But you can have a huge say in what happens by bombarding the Council with letters of support. We have set out ways in which you can support the new stadium.

  <title>Derby County 3-0 Southend United</title>
<description>Steve Tilson re-shuffled the squad in an attempt to bolster the Midfield and get something from Pride Park...but alas it wasn't to be. A second consecutive 3-0 defeat had sent Southend into the bottom three of The Championship. Now that Southend have a two week break, it might give Tilly time to sort out the defence, otherwise we're in for a long season.

  <title>Southend United 0-3 Cardiff City</title>
<description>Southend lost their unbeaten home record in front of the Sky TV cameras after losing 3-0 at home to Championship leaders Cardiff. After a positive opening 20 minutes, The Shrimpers looked as if they would overcome the Welshmen with Billy Paynter hitting the cross bar.
Cardiff managed to end up controlling the game and a mixture of very poor refereeing and poor defending gave Cardiff the points.

  <title>Southend United 3-2 Brighton and Hove Albion</title>
<description>After waiting for so long to get into Round 2 of the Carling Cup, Southend United have now got into the 3rd round. A round that Southend haven't been in for 19 years. The cup journey seemed to be over when Brighton opened the scoring in the 71st minute, but after a dramatic finish, The Shrimpers then went 3-1 up with 3 goals in a 4 minute spell. Brighton did however score a consolation goal at the end.

  <title>Southend United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday</title>
<description>Southend continued their unbeaten home run with a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday.
It was a match that could have gone either way, and one of those games when just one goal would have won the match.

  <title>Bournemouth 1-3 Southend United</title>
<description>The last time Southend got to the second round of The League Cup, was in 1998 when they beat Gillingham 2-0 on aggregate. Now the eight year wait is over as The Shrimpers booked their second round spot with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth. Mark Gower opened the scoring in the first half for Southend with Bournemouth equalising just after the break. A Freddy Eastwood penalty made it 2-1, and then Eastwood scored again after rounding the Bournemouth keeper to make it 3-1.

  <title>Southend United 3-1 Sunderland</title>
<description>Southend's most prolific performance so far this season was helped by a very poor Sunderland. Many at the ground found it hard to believe that Sunderland were in the Premiership last season as Southend more-or-less completely ran the show.
Two goals from Adam Barrett and a third from Lee Bradbury put Southend into a 3-0 lead, before John Stead scored a consolation for The Black Cats at the end.

  <title>Crystal Palace 3-1 Southend United</title>
<description>Three second half Palace goals allowed the South Londoners to take the points at Selhurst Park.
Freddy Eastwood gave Southend a half time lead, but in the second half two goals from corners and one off-side goal gave Palace the points in a game which Southend deserved to get something from.

<description>Efe Sodje, Southend's new signing last night was put straight into the starting line-up for the match at Oldham. Sodje partnered Spencer Prior in the centre of defence, with Adam Barrett switching to left back for the suspended Che Wilson. A good debut for Sodje, who also had a shot hit the cross bar in the second half. Kevin Maher also hit the post early on in the first half as the two on form teams fought out a 0-0 draw which could have gone either way. A match report from Shrimpers-online regular JPOAFC follows...</description>
